50th Anniversary Summer Celebration at Lake Barrington Shores La Binia Outdoor Concert and Picnic
On Sunday, July 12, residents enjoyed an idyllic summer afternoon and evening in beautiful surroundings on the Green by the LBS Marina for the Village’s 50th Anniversary celebratory picnic and outdoor concert co-hosted by the LBS Ladies Club and the Village of Lake Barrington.
Earlier in the afternoon children played in the family entertainment area while the Chordmasters barbershop quartet strolled the grounds singing to the picnic groups. A trackless choo choo train gave people a glimpse of the spectacular Lake Barrington Shores recreation area.
After the welcomes and introductions, featured vocalist Donna Kaye led the audience in the Star Spangled Banner. The Crystal Lake Community Band played three sets including a break out session by the jazz band. The music program featured 25 musical selections including Symphonic Dances from Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, Hooray for Hollywood and a Sound of Music medley with Donna Kaye.
The band closed out the show with patriotic songs, a highlight of which was the Armed Forces Salute, where veterans were honored when they stood up as their military song played. The concert finished with a wonderful patriotic musical and visual treat - the launching of red, white, and blue balloons from different points throughout the Green at sunset during God Bless America.
The Village thanks the LBS Ladies Club and Lake Barrington Community Homeowners Association for their hospitality. A special thank you is extended to Ann Cronin and Julie Tortorelli of the LBS Ladies Club for all of their hard work and for sharing their 8th Annual La Binia as a Lake Barrington 50th Anniversary celebration.
