Healthy Countryside Living…

Lake Barrington area residents enjoyed a day of fun and interactive learning at the Lake Barrington Family Fun & Fitness Fair held on November 8 at the Lake Barrington Field House. The Fair featured local health and fitness service providers and businesses, specialized health screenings, children’s activities and crafts, live performances and more.  The event was co-hosted by the Village of Lake Barrington, Lake Barrington Field House and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

And Countryside Giving

Wellness Through Giving was a unique and successful program at the Lake Barrington Family Fun & Fitness Fair that provided opportunities for people to donate to area organizations.  The Village of Lake Barrington extends its gratitude to the generous residents, vendors, organizers, and performers who helped turn countryside living into countryside giving.

Locks of Love

The E & G Salon gave free children’s haircuts at the fair.  Children donated enough hair to Locks of Love to provide wigs for five children who lost their hair to cancer treatment. 

LifeSource Blood Drive

Good Shepherd Hospital received 36 pints of blood which can help save 108 lives.

Cuba Township Food Pantry

Over 100 pounds of food, or about 15 bags of groceries, were donated to the Cuba Township Food Pantry.  Donors received 3 free shots to try and dunk Village President Kevin Richardson.

Cuba Township Food Pantry

The Cuba Township Food Pantry accepted non-expired, non-perishable food items, $20 grocery store gift cards, $25 gas station gift cards, and check or cash donations at the event.  Donors received a free shot at the dunk tank for their donations. 

Locks of Love

Hair donations for children with cancer.  Local hair salon was on site giving free kid haircuts for donation collection.

LifeSource Blood Drive

WINGS – Women in Need Growing Stronger

WINGS helps homeless and abused women and children by offering integrated services that meet their needs for shelter, education, guidance and support.  They provide safe, secure living environments, through transitional housing and emergency shelter, in residential neighborhoods that allow women to go to school, work, and care for

themselves and their children. WINGS is a 501(c)(3) non-operating foundation.

Barrington Giving Day Donation Site

Barrington Giving Day is held each December and is sponsored by area churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations. Needy local families receive food, used clothing, books, blankets, warm coats, and new and used toys.  In 2008 Barrington Giving Day served 776 families. This included 2,400 children. Bring your donations and help local families in need.
